To be clear I'm bullish SAND and have LAND that I won't sell but I think there might be an opportunity to take some profits and buy in once the sell pressure has subsided (until we hit the next vesting milestone Jun 2022).Thank you for reaching out to Atlassian Community! I would argue that an 8x price increase in 1 month following the FB Meta renaming and general Metaverse hype is a unique moment and if I were a team member I'd definitively take some money off the table. Now you could obviously hope that the team and investors don't sell any of the tokens that are going to vest. You can see a sharp increase from December to January which is the 13% extra liquidity that will come to the market from the investors and the team.
Follow the link above and go to section 4 and have a look at the "Sand token release schedule" graph. Sandbox has published their vesting schedule. In our example that means Q1 2021 you get 25 shares in Q2 2021 you get an additional 6.25 and so on until you get access to all your 100 shares in Q1 2024. On your first anniversary you get 25% of your shares and there after every quarter you vest pro rata. This means that for 12 months you won't get any shares (cliff). In traditional startup land what happens is that you get say 100 shares in Q1 2020 that vest over 4 years with a 12 month cliff. That way if you want all your shares/tokens you will have to stick around for a while and contribute to the company. The longer explanation here: To create aligned incentives companies usually lock up equity (in web3 tokens) for employees up on a schedule. Consider if you want to sell prior to this to take some profits off the table given the meteoric bull run in November (8x!!!). This means sell pressure and therefore a negative impact on price action. TL DR: According to Sandbox’s whitepaper the team and investors will be able to release about 13% of their tokens to the open markets in December 2021.
